Ash Wednesday is the first day of the holy season of Lent, forty days leading up to Easter. During Lent every year, Christians re-dedicate themselves to spiritual disciplines as they seek to draw closer to God in preparation for the great celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

This special worship service gives special time to a confession of our sins, which is symbolized by ashes placed in the shape of the cross on our foreheads. In the days of the Bible, people put ashes on their heads as a mark of great sorrow.

All are welcome.
