ASH WEDNESDAY: A NEW HOPE!

As padawans are Jedis-in-training, learning the ways of the Force in the Star Wars universe, catechumens are training to be Christians.

Padawans learn the physcial, mental and spiritual disciplines they need to follow the ways of the Force, and to resist the temptation to turn to the Dark Side.

Catechumens train, too, to learn disciplines to follow the Lord Jesus (who is WAY better than any of those dark Sith Lords in the Star Wars films!).

This year our annual Ash Wednesday program will help kids aged 4 through 17 to learn about Temptation and the Dark Side in our own lives as we look at the story of the Temptation of Jesus and the story of Anakin Skywalker. We’ll then learn how to train to follow the Good Side, to follow Jesus so that we do not fall into temptation.

With music, games, baking and crafts, kids will learn how to be catechumen-learners. (The word catechumen is a word used by the early church for one who was preparing to become a Christian.)

$5 per child; bring a lunch and outside clothes!

YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER BY FEBRUARY 7; download the registration form and return it by email to Canon Heather or print and return it to the church.
